Generations in the Workplace: The Power of Four

For the first time in U. S. history there are four distinct generations in the workplace. Each generation has unique attitudes, behaviors, expectations, and motivations. Generational differences affect all aspects of talent management including recruitment strategies, managing and motivating employees, succession planning, and retention. When leveraged well, the diversity of these four generations can be quite powerful and can lead to increased creativity, problem solving, and goal achievement. Effective communication between the different generations can eliminate major confrontations and misunderstandings in the workplace, as well as with customers and suppliers.
